Gene (Eugene) James Sprague, 68 of Stevens Point and formerly of Wausau and Junction City, passed away August 26, 2026, surrounded by family.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Martens/Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City with visitation from 9:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Runkel Cemetery, Junction City.

Gene was born May 19, 1958 to Gerald and Loretta (Ostrowski) Sprague in Wausau, Wi. He graduated from Wausau West High School. He married Elizabeth Wolfe on May 26, 2000 in Junction City, WI.

Throughout his life, he drove truck. He was known to many as the milkman, and ended his career driving dump truck. When he was not working, he could be found doing what he loved with the people he loved most in his life. Whether it would be working on cars, cheering on the Packers and the Brewers, or watching John Wayne with his favorite pups.

Gene is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their children Brett (Megan) Sprague of Stevens Point, Sara Sprague of Junction City, daughters Michelle Salter of Merrill, Darlene (Eric Callaway) Pospichal of Depere, Colleen Adams of Wausau, Jessica (Dan) Kartes of Wausau, and Christina (Rich) Pombera of Weston. He is further survived by his Mother-in-law Velma Wolfe of Junction City. Surviving siblings include Suzanne Giles of Wausau, Donald Sprague of Wausau, Phillip Sprague of Hatley, and Richard Sprague of Weston.

Gene is also survived by nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Loretta, brother Harold Sprague, sister Carrie Bryant, brother-in-law Gregory Giles; as well as David Wolfe, LeRoy Wolfe, Connie and David Peplinski, Sandra Wolfe and June Hogan.
