Gary J. Roberts, 56, of Marshfield, WI passed away on January 7, 2021. Gary Roberts was born to Homer and Ruth (Zielinski) Roberts on May 16, 1964 in Chicago, IL. As a young lad, Gary learned to play the violin, demonstrating his willingness to accept a difficult challenge. At times he seemed fearless in his daring feats and sense of adventure. While attending Marshfield Senior High School, Gary especially enjoyed classes in culinary and visual arts. After his high school graduation in 1983, Gary enlisted into the U.S. Army where he received a medical discharge. On June 7, 1985 he joined Catherine Bolitho in marriage and the young couple resided in Marshfield. After their divorce, Gary pursued a fresh start by enrolling in automotive maintenance courses at Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire to further develop his passion of vehicle repair. Gary believed in maintaining a light footprint on this earth. In his free time, he loved to work on cars, watch movies, hike around the city, and cook for nearby family. Mr. Roberts was willing to accept jobs requiring intense physical labor, even though it took a heavy toll on his body. For many years, he worked at Office Max in Madison, WI as a warehouse specialist and setting up displays. Following semi-retirement and a subsequent move back to Marshfield, Gary began volunteering to give back to the community. Gary is survived by his six siblings: Homer Roberts Jr. of Glendale, AZ; Michael (Ann) Roberts of Elkhorn, WI; Sandra (Charlie Silbernagel) Roberts of Gulfport, MS; Russell Roberts of Madison, WI; Janice Roberts of Eau Claire, WI; Ronald Roberts of Madison, WI; four nieces, one nephew, other relatives, and friends including special friend Fe Nudalo Johnson.
