Obituary

Frankie D. Lanier, 62, of Marshfield passed away Sunday, June 28, 2026 at his home unexpectedly.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, July 15th at the Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield with Pastor Preston Tippen officiating. The family welcomes relatives and friends for visitation from 9am until time of service at the funeral home. Military Rites will follow provided by the VFW Mueller-Hintz Post #1866 of Marshfield. Interment will take place later in Joliet, IL.

Frank was born May 31, 1964 in Chicago, IL to Dean Ivory and Bernice Morris. He was the 4th of 6 children. The family resided in Joliet, IL during his formative years and he attended public schools there, graduating from Joliet East High School. Following his schooling Frank enlisted in the Marine Corps and served as a cook from 1984 to 1988. 20 years later he felt the call to serve again and joined the Army from 2007-2009. Frank was a man of faith and strong force in the family. He was humble and it was his honor to serve at his church. He enjoyed fishing and football, especially cheering on the Bears. He will be remembered lovingly as a kind man and a jokester.

Frank is survived by his wife Barbara at home with his fur babies Cali, Faith and George as well his children Josh and Cori Lanier. He is further survived by his siblings: Vivian (Larry) Crawford of Joliet, IL, Paul (Carla) Lanier of Columbus, OH, James Rosée Lanier of Palm Bay, FL, Mia Tammy (Shawn) Banks of Limerick, PA; and half-siblings Carolyn and Denise. And his step daughter Linda (Adam) Rappley, step-grandchildren Kylie Lindner, Jonah Rappley, and Gracelynn Rappley. He is also survived by his siblings-in-law John (Ann) Weis, Gary (Laura) Weis, Amy Reading, Bethany (Dan) Reading, Sheri Reading, and Scott Reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Sylvanus "Vaan" Lanier, and his brothers-in-law Michael Weis and Justin Reading.
