Obituary

Florian J."Larry" Zajackowski, 85, of Milladore, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home Saturday morning, October 15, 2011. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday October 20, 2011 at St. Michaels Church, Junction City, with Father Andrezej Panek officiating. Burial will take place at St. Michaels Cemetery in Junction City with military honors. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday October, 19 at Martens/Rembs Funeral home in Junction City and again on Thursday October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to service time. There will be a 7:30pm Parish Rosary service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Florian was born on August 5, 1926 in Birnamwood Wisconsin, to Andrew and Frances (Wonsikowska) Zajackowski. After graduating from Birnamwood School he served in the US Marine Corp from 1949 to 1951, he was honorably discharged in 1951. He was one of the "Chosin Few" survivors. A veteran of a 40 day series of battles at the Chosin Reservoir as well as the assault and seizure of Inchon and Seoul, during the Korean Conflict. After he was honorably discharged in 1951, he married Alice Szews in 1954 at St. Florians Church in Hatley. He then farmed in the town of Norrie, Marathon County until 1960 when he moved to Milladore. He worked at Consolidated Papers, Paper Board division as a machine operator and was a lifelong farmer. He was a general leader of North County Line 4-H for 9 years. He had the opportunity to patent ideas. He was a man who enjoyed being around people and helping others. He loved traveling and visiting his children who are spanned across the states. His knowledge of history was endless, which he spoke of often. He was a man of many woodworking talents sharing his creativity with others. He loved many things in his life from spending time with his family to sharing stories with his grandchildren. He had a love of nature, especially the creation of his pond where the families would spend many hours fishing to see who could catch the big one. He loved a good spaghetti or pancake feed, but most of all he loved a good rack of ribs. His memory will be carried on by his wife, Alice and their children: Mark (Sue) Zajackowski, Milladore, Tom (Sue) Zajackowski, Amherst, Mike Ziolkowski (son- in-law), Plover, Maria Flory, Nevada, Joselle Bertram, Texas, Jerome (Karen) Zajackowski, Bellingham, WA, Paul (Dionne) Zajackowski, Lyndon Station, Ann (Jeff) Haasl, Milladore , Julie Zajackowski, Milladore. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Wanda Gajewski, Wausau and brother Adam Zajackowski, Ringle. He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Monica Ziolkowski, five sisters, and four brothers. Those who labor in the earth are the chosen people of God Thomas Jefferson.
