Florence F. Smrecek, 93, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church where visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Rev. Keith Kitzhaber will officiate. The service will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Florence was born on January 15, 1929 in Marshfield to Edward and Adela (Schnitzler) Herkert. She attended Sacred Heart Catholic School and Marshfield Senior High. She married John F. Smrecek on April 30, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He passed away on November 4, 2014.
The one thing Florence loved most was newborns. For years she worked with newborn babies in the hospital and always had the magic touch. Her hands have made thousands of special crocheted hats and blankets over the years. She loved traveling and spending time with her family and going to her cottage in Tomahawk. Florence was a member of the Christian Mothers and Card Club. She also volunteered at Sacred Heart and worked at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
She is survived by her children, Betty (Michael) Meyer of Muskego, Ed (Mary) Smrecek of Appleton, Jim (Shelley) Smrecek of Sherwood, Ken (Kaye) Smrecek of Tomahawk and Pam (Mike) Wawrzyniak of Lexington, VA; 16 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister, Irene Susa, brothers, Jim Herkert, Lawrence "Bud" (Dora) Herkert, Reuben (Jo) Herkert, and Bob (Ruth) Herkert, and in-laws, Betty Smrecek, Tom (Marlene) Smrecek, and Mary Ann Brinkman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many brothers, sisters, and in-laws.
Memorials can be designated to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
