Obituary

Felix F. "Phil" Grutzik, 92, a lifelong Town of City Point resident, died on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 1, 2013 at St. Joachim's Catholic Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Robert Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in Spaulding Cemetery, City Point, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 153 of Pittsville. The visitation will be held on Friday from 8:30 am until service time at St. Joachim's Catholic Church. Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Feliz was born on November 20, 1920 in City Point, Wisconsin. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946. He married Lena M. Palienco on October 30, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids. She died on June 19, 2006. Felix had farmed in the Town of City Point and also had been an iron worker, a logger and had a sphagnum moss business. He was a member of the former Martyrs Chapel, City Point and a past post commander of the American Legion Post 153, Pittsville and served on the City Point Town Board. He loved the outdoors and playing cards with family and friends. He is survived by 7 children, Felix (Margaret Parsons) Grutzik, Jr., Marcia (David) Zellner, Mary (Mark) Anderson, Brenda (David) Myre, Donny Grutzik, Dennis Grutzik, and Timothy Grutzik. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Constance Jepson. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, and brothers and sisters, Julia, Gertrude, John, Joseph, Isabelle, Albert and Louise. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
