Obituary

Evelyn M. Zurn, 97, of Marshfield died Tuesday, April 21, 2015 peacefully at her home, Aster Retirement Center in Marshfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, April 27, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music for the service. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitations will be from 9:30am Monday until time of services at the church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Evelyn was born on August 27, 1917 in Riverside area to Joseph and Anna (Rehlinger) Schaefer. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1935. She was united in marriage to Sylvester F. Zurn on August 27, 1941 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church in Rozellville. He sadly passed away on October 12, 2005. Ev lived all her life in Marshfield. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her girls and many grandchildren. She loved to knit and crochet but her favorite pass time was playing cards, especially bridge. She is survived by her 2 daughters, JoAnn (Ron) Schallock of Apple Valley, MN and Mary (Harry) Bengry of Sioux Falls, SD, son-in-law Dave Stargardt of Neillsville; 6 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, Janet (Scot) Kapusta and their children Justin, Cordell, Janalee and Isabella; John (Christina) Schallock and their children, Leah (Justin Reque) Teague, David (Jillian) Schallock, Joseph, Sarah and Daniel; Lisa (Kevin) Selig and their children, Joanna, Lydia and Andrew; Amy (Dan) Krzmarzick and their children, Elijah and Isaiah; Jody (Jason) Pittman and their child, Margaret Evelyn; Jeff (Amy) Bengry and their children Zack and Ryzon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Alice Stargardt, great granddaughter, Angel Mary Bengry and a brother Joseph "Bud" Schaefer and her sister Bernice Wendelborn. The family would like to thank the staff at the Aster Retirement Center for the wonderful care they gave to Evelyn.
