Eugene J. Daniel, 87, Marshfield, died peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and from 10:30 am on Friday until service time at Our Lady of Peace Church.
Eugene was born on March 30, 1927 in Beaver Dam, the son of Charles and Verona (Arndorfer) Daniel. In 1938 he moved with his family to Marshfield and later was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School.
Eugene was a veteran of the United States Army from 1952 until 1954, serving during the Korean War, stationed in northern Japan. He was united in marriage to Virginia R. Parks on November 7, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Eugene was employed at Roy's Conoco service station and then owned and operated Dan's Lawn and Garden in Marshfield.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 54. After his retirement the Daniel's enjoyed traveling in their 5th wheel to the southern and western parts of the country. He also enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia and 2 daughters and 2 sons, Linda (Lee) Smith of Hattisburg, MS, Barb (Pat) Brandner of Eau Claire, Dave (Marion) Daniel and Jim (Fran) Daniel, all of Marshfield. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Gordon (Marge) Daniel of Wauwatosa.
He was predeceased by his parents, a granddaughter, Nicole Daniel, a great grandson, Samuel Oettiker, and 2 sisters, Eunice Ptaschinski and Adel Smith.
