Obituary

Esther L. Dehn, 94, Marshfield, died on Thursday, April 16, 2015 at Stoney River Assisted Living. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at the First Presbyterian Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Dr. Kevin Buchanan officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until service time. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Esther was born on April 20, 1920 in El Paso, Texas to Victor and Hazel (Allen) Cox. She graduated from Crockett School and then Austin High School. She attended the College on Mines and then graduated from the University of Colorado where her Sorority was Alpha Omicron Pi. She was united in marriage to William J. Dehn on May 3, 1946 at the First Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas. After her education, Esther taught school at Austin High School where she was the head of the Science Department. After their marriage the Dehn's lived in Madison, WI where her husband resumed his study of law after serving in World War II. In 1947 the Dehn's moved to Marshfield. Esther was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was a choir member, taught Sunday school, served as a Deacon, and from 1955 until 1997 was a member of the Dorcus Circle. She was a member of the Women's Choral Club, the P.E.O. Chapter CY and helped with Unicef around Halloween. She also served as a Girl Scout leader. Esther had a green thumb for flowers and plants and enjoyed her flower gardens around her home. In her younger years she enjoyed music, plays and operas. She especially enjoyed getting together with family and friends. Her church people and the faith she had, surrounded her with much love and joy. She was a strong woman of faith which helped carry her through the last few months of tough decisions. She truly was blessed! She was blessed with 2 children, Susan and Jim who survive her. She is also survived by 3 grandsons, Jesse, Lucas and Nathaniel and 5 great grandchildren, Lexus, Sam, Nina, Kayden and Emma. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Bill, a brother in infancy and a sister, Grace DelPonte. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated in Esther's name to the First Presbyterian Church or to P.E.O. Chapter CY. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
