Obituary

Erwin Ernst Schoenrock, Sr. passed away on April 1, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 84. His is a story of survival and determination. He lost both parents and all nine of his brothers and sisters to the atrocities of WWII when he was just 16, escaped East Germany and found work as a farm hand in West Germany. In 1952 he emigrated to the United States with only $20 to his name, an 8th grade education and an incredible work ethic upon which to rely. He first settled in Wyoming where he worked as a ranch hand. Later, he moved to Milwaukee where there were many German immigrants and an abundance of jobs. In 1960, he moved to north central Wisconsin to buy a dairy farm, eventually settling in Edgar, and worked at Murray Machinery in Wausau. Erwin is survived by his children: Mildred, Edgar, Erwin (Kim) Schoenrock Jr., Athens, Paul, Mosinee, Lori (Ken) Lenhard, Athens, Kurt (Laura) Hudson, Wisconsin; and fifteen grandchildren Craig, Courtney, Kira, Paul Jr, Susie, Danielle, Brandon, Mattheu, Timothy, Ashley, Cassandra, Brian, Elizabeth, Braeden and Ava .
