Emily M. West of Marshfield died Monday, November 14, 2011 at the age of 82 in the palliative care unit of Ministry St. Josephs Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 19 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Marshfield, WI at 10:30 a.m., Father Peter M. Manickam officiating. Entombment will follow Monday November 21 at 1 p.m. All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, IL. Visitation will be Friday, November 18 from 4pm until 7pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, WI. and again on Saturday at the church from 9:30 am until time of the service. There will be a Parish Council of Catholic Women Rosary service at 4pm Friday at Rembs Funeral Home. Emily was born May 27, 1929 in Milwaukee to Carl and Selma (Retta) Harlin. She attended Bay View High School in Milwaukee, finishing her last two years at Granton High School when the Harlins returned to operate the family dairy farm on H. Emily attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, prior to moving to Chicago. She was employed at Madigans Department Store on the west side of Chicago and became a store manager. It was there that Emily met the love of her life, Thomas and they were united in marriage July 4, 1951. Emily was a devoted wife and mother and spent the next 50 years in Chicago where she lovingly reared six children and made her family her first priority. She was later employed at Kerley Ink Company in Broadview, IL as office manager and secretary to the President. Following retirement in 1995, Tom and Emily moved to Marshfield Wisconsin. Emily is survived by husband Thomas of 60 years; two sons, Thomas (Gloria) of Chicago, IL, Gregory (Heidi) of Overland Park, KS ; four daughters, Nancy Stoecker (Leonard) of Aurora, IL, Susan Crowley (Dr. Timothy) of Evansville, IN, Jennifer West of Chicago, IL and Mary West (Dan Busto) of Huntington Woods, MI; grandchildren, Leonard, Marie, Elizabeth and Thomas Stoecker, Evan (Jessica), Timothy and Katherine Crowley, Lauren and Anna West; great-grandchildren Ryan Fleming and Mae Crowley. She is preceded in death by her parents; infant sister Ruth; her brother Richard and sister-in-law Shirley; Sisters-in-law Margaret West and Patricia West; and son-in-law Robert Steigert.
