Obituary

Elsie M. Zurn 95 of Marshfield died Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be 11am Monday at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Lesher officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitations will be from 4-7pm Sunday at Rembs Funeral Home and again on Monday at the church from 10am until service times. Elsie was born on May 15, 1919 in Cudahy to Frank and Julia (Schrottner) Huetter. She moved to Manville, WI with her parents and four siblings in 1921. Elsie attended Manville School. Prior to World War II, she worked at the Coffee Cup Restaurant and during the war, at Roddis Co. and Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. She was united in marriage to William W. Zurn on December 5, 1947 at St. Mathews Lutheran Church in Marshfield. Bill passed away on September 16, 1990. Elsie became a mother in 1949 and was a charter member at Faith Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and served as treasurer of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church. Elsie raised three children Jackie, Roxanne and son Jon. She continued to work at Figi's, Inc. and Burt Trophies. After retirement, she volunteered at the Senior Craft Shop, Soup and Socks and delivered mail at St. Joseph's Hospital. Elsie was an avid crafter and enjoyed traveling. She visited Europe, Hawaii and took numerous cruises. She adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Elsie remained active her entire 95 years. She will long be remembered for her tremendous sense of humor, her strong beliefs and good cheer. Elsie is survived by her children, Jackie Zurn of Marshfield, Roxanne (Robert) Tomkowiak of Marshfield and Jon (Jeannine Ouellette) Zurn of Minneapolis, MN, and 8 grandchildren, Beth (Justin) Klute, Curt (Mandy) Tomkowiak, Britta Fithian-Zurn, Lilian Fithian-Zurn, Lachlan Fithian-Zurn, Sophia Ouellette-Howitz, Maxwell Ouellette-Howitz and Lillian Ouellette-Howitz; 3 great grandchildren, Alex Klute, Peyton Klute and Cassandra Tomkowiak. She is further survived by her sister Marian Brandt of Marshfield. Besides her parents, step mother Martha Huetter and husband Bill, she was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Frank Huetter, Jr., Robert Lahr, Marvin Lahr and Karl Huetter, 4 sisters Julia Egner, Anna St. Dennis, Ella Stargardt and Martha Franz.
