Elizabeth M. (Hebert) Wagner, 106, Marshfield, died peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at her home,
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin Officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and serving as pallbearers will be Mike, Alan, Ted, Kevin and Jim Wagner and Kelly Syth. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home and on Saturday from 9:30 am until service time at St. John's Catholic Church. A combined St. John's Parish and St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
Elizabeth was born on December 29, 1909 in Unity, the daughter of David and Mary (Santoba) Hebert. She graduated from Stevens Point Normal School and began teaching in a one room school in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County, where she taught until she began raising her children.
She was united in marriage to Theodore W. Wagner on June 10, 1930 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. He died on May 11, 1968.
The Wagner's had farmed in the Town of Cleveland until 1960 when they moved to Marshfield. Elizabeth had been employed at St. Joseph's Hospital and as a cook at the rectory at St. John's Catholic Church. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and St. John's Parish Council of Catholic women. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and playing cards. She had resided at the Parkview apartments since 1988.
She is survived by her sons, Melvin (Mary) Wagner of Baraboo and James (Lois) Wagner of Wausau and daughters-in-law, Florence Wagner of Rosemount, MN and Jean Wagner of Marshfield. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Lucille Hebert of Marshfield. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, 2 sons, Robert and Norman Wagner, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
