Obituary

Eleanora M. Moen, 84, Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 in the presence of her family at House of the Dove Hospice Home, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, with Rev. Trisha Turner officiating. Burial will take place in Hillside Cemetery and nephews will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at Faith Lutheran Church. Eleanora was born on March 3, 1928 in Dorchester, the daughter of Richard and Elfrieda (Koch) Schmidt and was a graduate of Dorchester High School. She was united in marriage to Carl W. Moen on May 14, 1949 at Trinity English Lutheran Church, Marshfield. He died on March 2, 2000. Eleanora was employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, O and N Lumber Company, and Colonial Inn, all in Marshfield and lastly at the Marshfield Convalescent Center for 23 years until her retirement in 1989. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. She cherished spending time with her family. Other interests included growing outdoor flowers and house plants, watching birds and butterflies, playing games with family and friends, enjoying her collection of giraffes, and baking cookies and her signature gumdrop cake at Christmas. She is lovingly survived by a daughter, Charlene (Randall) Luchterhand of Marshall, WI, and 3 sons, Jeffrey Moen of Marshfield, David (Judith) Moen of Hewitt, and Gene Moen of Chicago, IL. She is also survived by a grandson, Benjamin Moen and a great grandson, Benjamin Moen, both of Oakland, CA. She is further survived by a brother, Harold Schmidt of Farmington, MN and 3 sisters-in-law, Barbara Schmidt of California, Cecilia Schmidt of Abbotsford, and Doris Schmidt of Wisconsin Rapids and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a granddaughter, Dawn Moen, 2 sisters, Evaline Lindrud and Ruth Regel, and 5 brothers, Richard, Theodore, Walter, Alvin and Melvin Schmidt.
