Elaine M. Cliver, 93 of Marshfield died on Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Bethel Center in Arpin. She was under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice. Funeral services will be 11am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Rembs Funeral Home with Pastor Daryn Bahn officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Visitations will be from 10am Saturday at Rembs Funeral Home until time of services. Elaine was born on June 2, 1920 to Reinhold and Emma (Oestreich) Steffen in Marshfield. She graduated in 1938 from McKinley High School which was located in the Purdy Jr. High School due to the fire in October 1936. Elaine also graduated from the Milwaukee Beauty School of Cosmetology in December of 1938. She returned to Marshfield where she owned and operated Maudell's Beauty Salon for over 54 years, retiring to care for her ill husband. She was united in marriage to Richard E. Cliver on September 21, 1946 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. Richard died on December 28, 1995. Elaine was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was confirmed on April 9, 1933. She enjoyed spending weekends at her cabin in Tripoli, WI. Previously, she enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, 4 wheeling, bowling, golf, traveling and going out to eat with friends and relatives. Elaine is survived by a sister-in-law, Pat Wentworth of Raleigh, NC along with many nieces, nephews, godchildren and friends. She was a kind and generous person and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Besides her parents and husband Dick, she was preceded in death by two brothers Arthur and Rubin Steffen; six sisters, Rosalie Sommers, Clara Butlin, Eleanor Nicholson, Caroline Weister, Dorothy Schnell and Pauline Mitten. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church in Marshfield.
