Obituary

Edith M Steiner (Dhein), 75, of Stratford passed away on Tuesday May 31, 2011 in the emergency room of Ministry St. Josephs hospital. . Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday June 4 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stratford with Father Eric Burns officiating. St. Josephs Resurrection Choir will provide the music for the services. Burial will be in St. Josephs Cemetery in the town of Eau Pleine with Edies grandchildren Jennifer Perry, Adam Steiner, Matt Steiner, Jennifer Mayer, Patrick Bornbach, and Erin Bornbach serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday June 3rd and again on Saturday at the church from 10am until time of the services. There will be Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service at 4pm Friday followed by a Parish Prayer service at 8pm at the Rembs Funeral Home. Edie was born February 9, 1936 in Stratford, Marathon County, to Walter and Ellen (Raleigh) Dhein. She received her education from St. Josephs Catholic School and Stratford High School graduating in 1954. She was united in marriage with David L. Steiner on Jan. 31, 1955 at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Stratford. He preceded her in death on November 24th 2001. Edie was a dedicated bus driver for the Stratford Schools for 35 years. She often spoke fondly of the wonderful memories and children she enjoyed spending time with, while watching 3 generations of families go through the doors. She spent years as an active Girl Scout leader in the community, enjoying all the pageants, camps and projects that went along with it. She was active in St. Josephs Catholic Parish often helping to cook and plan meals for funerals and other church events. Edie was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing brought her more joy than being able to spend time with her family. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years and still got together often with the "Landwher Repair Team" for dinner or lunch. Since her retirement many an hour was spent with her friends playing cards at Village Spirits in Stratford. She is lovingly survived by her children Sherry (Dan) Haley of Milwaukee, Cathy (Randy) Mayer of Stratford, Steve (Debby) Steiner of Stratford, Danny Steiner of Stratford, Lorie Steiner of Clear Lake, MN. She is further survived by her grandchildren Jennifer Mayer, Adam Steiner, Matt Steiner, Jennifer (Steve) Perry, Patrick (Katie) Bornbach, and Erin Bornbach and great grand children Deven son of Jennifer Mayer and Olivia daughter of Matt (Monica) Steiner. She is further survived by a sister Joan Hornung of Wausau and three brothers-in-law Henry (Betty) Steiner of Stratford and Tom (Verjean) Steiner of Wausau and Ralph (Clarice) Kohnhorst of Wausau.
