Randy Bohon, age 75, entered his promised home in heaven on August 4, 2026, after living with Multiple Myeloma for ten years.

Dr. Bohon spent his entire 33-year career as an anesthesiologist at Marshfield Clinic Health System. Most of those years were at the Marshfield Center, with four and a half of the later years at the Minocqua Center. He never retired.

He was born Charles Randall Bohon on February 12, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Kenneth Bohon and Annie Elnora Wilburn Bohon. His family then lived in St. Louis and Hobart, Indiana before settling in Appleton, Wisconsin when he was eight years old.

In his youth, Randy played Little League baseball, was on the YMCA swim team, played piano and violin, and sang with the Appleton Boy Choir. In high school he was on the track and wrestling teams, graduating in 1969 from Appleton West High School in the top 10% of his class.

After high school, Randy pursued general college studies at Southwestern College in Waxahachie, Texas, where he played basketball. His science studies then took him to UW-Green Bay, Lawrence University, and UW-Oshkosh, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology.

Randy worked as a self-employed beekeeper for a dozen years before pursuing medical school.

Randy received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 1988 from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma and completed his residency in Anesthesiology in 1992 from the Medical College of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, receiving Board Certification in 1993.

On his first day of medical school, Randy met Frances Jennemann Garabedian, a widow with two children, who was also going back to school. They married on August 10, 1985. Shortly after, Randy adopted her two children, Rebecca and Anna. They had two more children during Randy’s medical school, Claire and Amy, another child during residency, Spencer, and later adopted one more, Kori Thomas.

Randy joined the US Navy Reserves in 1990, serving with a Primus Unit in Milwaukee into 1997. From 1998 through 2012, he served as a Battalion medical officer attached to the Marine Corps. In 2000, Randy completed nine weeks of intensive Naval Dive Training in Panama City, Florida to become a certified diving medical officer. At age 49, he was the oldest person at that time to complete this physically demanding training. Commander Charles Randall Bohon, MC, USNR-S2 received his Honorable Discharge on February 12, 2013, on his 62nd Birthday.

Always learning, questioning and serving, Randy coached Little League, served on the hockey board, had rental properties, managed timberland, owned a Wisconsin Northwoods restaurant and bar (Springstead Lake Lodge) and RB Honey LLC, an apiary with over 2000 bee hives for honey production and pollination in Wisconsin, Florida and California (which is now being managed by his son Spencer).

Randy loved the bees and trees, deer camp and bird hunting with family and friends in the Northwoods, hiking, trout stream fishing and snowstorms. He enjoyed exploring less populated areas. Randy revived and maintained a family camp tradition with immediate and extended family at Spencer Lake Bible Camp in Waupaca over the 4th of July week each year for over 15 years. For some years, he invited more rural friends to bring their families for Halloween trick or treating in our neighborhood, a tradition that expanded as others joined the party. Playing games or celebrating Christmas by watching classic Christmas movies with family and friends made him happy.

An avid reader, Randy began each day at a coffee shop, where he read his Bible and then fiction and non-fiction. He had high expectations for himself and others. He loved to debate moral, political and theological issues. He could be strong and firm, show grace, generosity and kindness. He loved partnering with people he could count on and offering work to those who wanted an opportunity. He was loyal to family and friends. He had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor, often using his own made-up words or language and funny nicknames. He could be a jokester, would tease kids, and get people to believe made-up sceneries (such as the Oklahoma town where you could see a tornado come through every Saturday evening). Despite of all this, Randy was truly authentic and honest.

Most importantly, Randy’s desire was to know and serve God. Like Jacob in Genesis, he sometimes “wrestled” with God to understand. He could identify with David in Psalms who was imperfect but had a “heart for God”. As he got older, Randy understood his faith by seeing God’s faithfulness in his life. Randy remarked that when he looked at family and friends, they were all miracles to him. On Facebook he wrote, “I have been truly blessed with a miraculous life. God has blessed me over and over and his faithfulness has been demonstrated to me continually throughout. I thank God for the wonderful life he has given me.” Randy wasn’t afraid of death because he knew that he would have an eternal home with his Lord and Savior.

Randy is survived by his wife of more than 40 years, Frances Jennemann Bohon, and five children- Rebecca Reading, Anna Chapman, Claire (Bob) Bach, Kori Thomas and Charles Spencer (Chelsey) Bohon. He is also survived by nine grandchildren- Noah, Natalie and Emma Reading; Carlos and Randy Bach; Raevan Thomas; Lillian, Charles Bennett and Franklin Bohon. He is also survived by his sister Deborah (Joe) Cooper and brother David (Karin) Bohon and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Randy was predeceased by his daughter, Amy Elizabeth in infancy, his parents Charles Kenneth (Ken) and Annie E. Bohon and his parents-in-law Vincent and Frances Jennemann.

A funeral service will be held for Randy at 11:00 on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Faith Fellowship, 217 W. McMillian St. Marshfield, Wisconsin officiated by Pastor Larry Sheahan. Visitation will be held for an hour before the service.

A visitation will also be held on the evening of Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, 300 S. Oak St., Marshfield, Wisconsin.
