Visitations will be from 4-7pm Friday, May 29, 2026 at Rembs Funeral in Marshfield and again on Saturday at the church from 9:30am until service time.

Dorothy was born in Marshfield, WI on January 25, 1931 to Edmund and Elizabeth (Lucille Deiler) Beining. She attended St. Andrew’s Parochial School in Rozellville, WI. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Harold J.Meyer on September 5, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Marshfield. Dorothy lived her entire married life and the years following Harold’s death on April 3, 2013 in the home that she and Harold built in Hewitt.

Dorothy worked at Jimmy’s Cafe, where she met Harold, and continued working there before she started her most precious job—being a mother. She held this job proudly for over 60 years. Dorothy was a strong, caring, big-hearted and social person. She enjoyed crocheting and was an accomplished seamstress, knitter and crafter. Each summer you could find Dorothy in her garden and preserving her prized produce, which she willingly shared with children, grandchildren, and friends. She was a long time member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church where she was involved with funeral dinners and PCCW along with the local Hewitt Boy Scouts and Hewitt Area Fire Department. When Dorothy wasn’t watching or listening to her favorite sports teams, you could find her helping out a neighbor or friend in various capacities including her children’s newspaper sub.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Harold. She is survived by her five children, Barbara (James Waters) Meyer of Horsham, PA; Carol (Kim) Meyer-Boldon of LaCrosse, WI, Paul (Judy) Meyer of New Brighton, MN; Roger Meyer of Hewitt; and Mary Meyer of LaCrosse, WI and six grandchildren who will serve as pall bearers. They are Kathryn Boldon, Anne Meyer, Adam Meyer, Erin Meyer, Emilie (fiancé, Joe Alt) Meyer, and Isaac Meyer. She is further survived by one sister, Virginia Bangart of Stratford; two brothers Richard (Lisa) Beining of Tucson, AZ and Ed (Karen) Beining of Sheboygan Falls, WI; and sisters-in-law Betty Beining of Howard’s Grove, WI and Audrey Meyer of Marshfield. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Donald (Joan), Jerry, Terrence; brothers-in-law James Bangart, Herbert Meyer and Norbert (Donna Meyer-Frane) Meyer.

The family would like to extend special thank yous to Larry and Kathy Updyke for their watchful eye and great friendship shown to Dorothy and also niece, Janet Meyer, for playing chauffeur and providing companionship.

Dorothy’s three daughters and one son would also like to thank the other son, Roger, for the care and nurturing given to our mother, enabling her to be self-sufficient while keeping her dignity since the death of our father.

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be designated at a later date.
