Obituary

Dorothy L. Mayer, 88, Junction City, died on Monday, October 17, 2011 at Hospice House, Wausau. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Junction City. Rev. Dr. Timothy Roser will officiate and Marit Erickson will be the organist for congregational singing. Burial will take place in Runkel Cemetery, Town of Eau Pleine, Portage County, and sons-in-law will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Martens / Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City and on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Dorothy was born on July 17, 1923 in Chicago, the daughter of Douglas and Stella (Duranso) Engebretson. She married Arthur G. Mayer on August 15, 1942 in Stevens Point. Dorothy and her husband farmed in the Town of Eau Pleine until their retirement. They then travelled extensively. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and her family meant the world to her. She was an excellent cook and letter writer, enjoying corresponding with family and friends. She is survived by her children, Joyce (David) Facklam of Madison, Ruth (Terry) Morrow of Wausau, Nancy (James) Benner of Perrysburg, Ohio, Donald (Margaret) Mayer of Wausau, Kathleen (Rocky) Shadden of Vista, CA, Diane Williams of Stevens Point, Doris (Richard) Caldwell of Bonita, Ca, and Jane (Tad) Vaughn of Greenland, NH. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Melanie Facklam, Linda Morrow, Jerry Morrow, Jenny Yost, Jessica Brockman, Kimberly Bates, Bethany Wick, Daniel Shadden, Ezekiel Williams, Savanna Williams, Matthew Caldwell, Evelyn Caldwell, Martha Caldwell, Kimberly Vaughn and Amy Vaughn, her great grandchildren, Nathaniel Brockman, Colton Brockman, Tyler Yost, Patrick Yost, Leah Yost, Shaelie Bates, Nathan Bates, Aislinn Bates, Emilie Bates, Morganne Wick, Mikayla Wick, Titus Wick, Troy Wick, and Turner Wick. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brothers, Henry West and George Engebretson, and sisters, Ethel (West) Schneck and Thelma (Engebretson) Borkenhagen. Memorials may be designated in her name to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Junction City.
