Dorothy E. Leffel, 88, Stratford, died on Easter Sunday morning, April 8, 2012 at Northside Elder Estate, Stratford. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran (High Steeple) Church, Town of Wien, Marathon County, with Rev. Jeffrey Lambrecht officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and on Thursday from 10:00 am until service time at St. John's Church. Dorothy was born on July 1, 1923 in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County, to Emil and Elsie (Borchardt) Bornowski. She attended Johnson Country School in the Town of Cleveland and then Trinity Lutheran School in Wausau. She married Arthur R. Leffel on October 8, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Town of Wien. He died on January 13, 2002. Dorothy was hard working all her life. Her faith and family were very important to her. She enjoyed flowers, fishing, sewing and square dancing. She was a member of St. John's Ladies Aid and participated in bible study. She is survived by her children, Gerald (Donna) Leffel of Weston and Phyllis (Hale) (Roger) Spindler of Stratford. She is also survived by three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, Penny Hale and her daughter, Paige; Pamela (Craig) Warosh and their children, Jordyn and Taylor; and Patrick (Christie) Hale and children Tatum, Matthew, Chrislynn and Samuel. She is further survived by three sisters, Marion (Hilbert) Werner of Stratford, Marie (Jarold) Landwehr of Stratford, and Bernice (LeRoy) Grosskreutz of Wausau. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sharon Leffel, a son-in-law, Paul Hale, two great grandchildren, Michael and Allison Hale, and a brother, Freddie "Fritz" Bornowski.
