Obituary

Dorla M. (Lang) Smazal, 79, Auburndale, died on Monday, July 9, 2012 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, with her family by her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 13, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Hewitt with Rev. Peter Raj officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, and serving as pallbearers will be grandchildren Michael, Luke, Marc, Forest, Sara and Rebecca Smazal. The visitation will be held on Friday from 9:30 am until service time at the church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Dorla was born on September 29, 1932 in the Town of Cassel, Marathon County to Joseph and Mathilda (Lang) Lang. She attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Marathon and Marathon High School. She also attended St. Rose Convent in LaCrosse. Mom lived her life putting others concerns and happiness before her own. Not only with her family but all she met. The simple things gave Mom the most joy, praying for others, caring for her grandchildren, family gatherings especially Christmas Eve and watching the wild birds at the feeder Before her marriage Dorla was employed at Marathon Cheese Corporation for four years. She and Vernon F. Smazal were united in marriage on October 9, 1957 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marathon. Dorla is survived by her husband, Vernon, and their children, Fern Smazal, David (Laura) Smazal, Francis Smazal, all of Marshfield, Laureen (Bill) Vruwink, Jr. of Milladore, Brian (Karen) Smazal of Auburndale, and Pamela (Kurt) Braun of Stratford. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters and a brother, Adeline Sellung of Edgar, Marian Huth of Marshfield, and Lawrence Lang of Arpin and a sister-in-law Eileen (Phillip) Lang of Madison along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Emil, Alex, Arthur, and Phillip Lang, a sister, Clara Lang, and a grandson, Ezra Braun. Mom, we are blessed to have you in lives and in our hearts. Your legacy is the kindness you always showed others. We will carry it with us and love you forever.
