Doreen J. Bistis, 92, Cloquet, MN, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Stoney River Memory Care, Marshfield, WI.

A celebration of life will be held on August 20, 2026 at Solway Town Hall, 4029 Munger Shaw Road, Cloquet MN, with visitation from 10:30-11:30, service at 11:30, and a luncheon to follow.

Doreen was born in Pierz, Morrison County, Minnesota to Andrew and Bertha (Reese) Kainz. She was raised in Morrison County and Sawbill Landing until she married James Bistis in 1952 in Two Harbors, Minnesota. They spent the next 54 years raising kids and after Jim’s retirement, traveling the country.

After Jim’s passing in 2006 she was introduced to Bob Martin. They spent 17 years together testing their luck at the casinos and dining at several local restaurants.

In addition to traveling and gaming, she loved taking pictures and putting them on DVD, or calendars, for her family to enjoy. She loved fishing, boating, camping, and wind surfing (in her sixties). She was a gifted painter and accordion player. Doreen also knitted sweaters for the family.

She is survived by her sons, Pete (Linda) Bistis of Mosinee, WI and James (Cindy) Bistis of Clouquet, MN, daughter, Pam (Rick) Neeley of Harlingen, TX, son in law, Terrance “Terry” Clark of Norman, OK, 16 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters, Lynn Gregorich and Terry Clark, grandson, Corey Clark, Bob Martin, her longtime companion, and 15 brothers and sisters.
