Donna A. Welch, 84, Marshfield, died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Marshfield. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, February 12, 2016 at Sacred Catholic Church with Rev. James Logan and Deacon Raymond Draeger officiating. Burial will take place in Brooklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Town of Richfield, Wood County at a later date. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday at Sacred Heart Church from 9:00 am until service time. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Donna was born on January 27, 1932 in Rockford, IL, to Andrew and Helen (Kohlbeck) Eckes. She was a 1950 graduate of Marshfield High School. She was united in marriage to Gerald A. Welch on July 1, 1950 at St. John's Catholic Church. He died on August 3, 2015. The couple lived in Antigo, Sturgeon Bay and then returned to the Marshfield area. Donna was a devoted wife and mother. After raising their large family, Donna worked at Welch True Value Hardware Store in Chili which she and her husband owned. She later worked in the rehab services at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. She is survived by her children, Dennis (Mary) Welch of Mukwanago, Douglas (Kim) Welch of Sturgeon Bay, Kenneth "Zip" Welch of Marshfield, Wendy (Bob) Martin of Chili, Gary (Cindy) Welch of Sturgeon Bay, Kathy (Lavern) Roehl of Marshfield, Patty (Greg Bodendorfer) Kaiser of Marshfield, Donna (Jeff) Allington of Oconomowoc, Carol Welch of Wisconsin Rapids, Michael (Radha) Welch of Granton, Cheryl (Tom Biebel) Greenwood Biebel of DePere and Joyce Benson of Mosinee. She is also survived by twenty-nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Elaine Hubatch of Long Beach CA, a brother, and Kenneth (Rose) Eckes of Weyerhaeuser, and sisters-in-law, Sandy Eckes of Rice Lake and Pearl Eckes of Marshfield, and three sisters-in-law, Bernice Welch of Marshfield, Clara (Jerry) Sauer of DePere, and Joan Fait of Marshfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son-in-law, Mike Benson, brothers, Gerald, Arnold and Ronald Eckes, sisters, Mary Margaret and Celia Koeberl, brothers-in-law, LaVerne Hubatch, George Koeberl, Orman "Joe" Welch, DuWayne Welch, Jerry Guensberg, and Stan Fait and and a sister-in-law, Iris Guensberg. The family would like to thank the employees of Atrium Post Acute Care for the fine care Donna received during her stay there and the House of the Dove staff and volunteers.
