Obituary

Donald A. Tritz, 94 of Arpin, passed away peacefully the evening of Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at the Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards under the care of Compassus Hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville with Father Leo Raphael officiating and music provided by Don's siblings Sue Wirtz and Lee Tritz. The service will be livestreamed at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. A wake will be held Wednesday night from 4-8pm at Buchanan Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville, and at church an hour prior to Mass. A Rosary Service will take place at 4pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Don was born February 26, 1931 on the home farm to Benedict N. and Susanna M (Thielen) Tritz. The 10th of 15 children born to the couple. He attended Pleasant Corners School, St. Joachim's, and was a 1949 graduate of Pittsville High School. He worked on his dad's farm for a while before enlisting in the Army in 1951. Don attended Basic Training in Hawaii and was shipped off to Korea to serve in the 3rd Infantry Division as a gunner in a 60mm Mortar Squad. Following his honorable discharge in 1953 he found work at the Nekoosa mill. He married the former Miss Virginia Huser July 26, 1955 at St. James Catholic Church in Vesper and together they farmed in Pittsville, then lived a few years in Wisconsin Rapids, and then bought a farm in the Town of Arpin where they raised their 6 children. Virginia sadly passed May 21, 2023 after almost 68 years of marriage.

Don will be missed by his 6 children: David (Arlene) Tritz of Wisconsin Rapids, Daniel (Susan) Tritz of Vesper, Donna (Dale) Mancl of Marshfield, Phyllis (John) Kollross of Arpin, Shirley Tritz of Neillsville, and James Tritz of Arpin. He is further survived by 16 grandchildren: Derek, Dana, Jared (Jenny), Justin (Kate), Travis (Jessica), and Kevin (Christina) Tritz, Tammy (Jeremy) Quirt, Becky (Adam) Graveen, Mikayla and James Kollross, Julianna (Paul) Pundsack, and Paul Kollross, Lindsay (Jeremy) Bird, Jesse & Tyler Johnson, and Tristan Tritz; and 24 great grandchildren: Lydia, Anthony, Rebekah, Mia, Kailer, Aspen, Miles, Max, Cooper, Mason, Gavin, Teegan, Kiptyn, Attie, Josie, Kasten, Declan, Ava, & Benson Tritz, Paisley Quirt, Kahlan & Emmet Graveen, Baby Pundsack, and Logan Bird.

Don is also survived by siblings Harold Tritz of Maryland, Ralph (Carrie) Tritz of Pittsville, Susan (the late Jerome) Wirtz of Wisconsin Rapids, and Leland (the late Judith) Tritz of Wisconsin Rapids, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Virginia, siblings: Delphine (Edward) Kaiser, Marita (Joseph) Krause, Norman (Loretta) Tritz, Cyril (Marian) Tritz, Marvin (Kathleen) Tritz, Ben Jr. (Carol) Tritz, Gertrude & Magdalen Tritz in infancy, Sister Mary Hope SSND, and Kenneth (Sandra) Tritz.
