Obituary

Donald R. Tremelling, 95, Marshfield, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Wells Nature View, Marshfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of service. Chaplain Randy Mantik will officiate. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield where military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 54 – Marshfield.

Don was born on September 8, 1930 in Marshfield to Lyman and Eleanor (Brandt) Tremelling.

As a young man, Don worked for Charles Perkel, a John Deere dealer. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1951 until his honorable discharge in 1953. On October 25, 1952, he was united in marriage to Betty A. Kaufman at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Marshfield. She passed away on March 14, 2010.

Don worked for Mitten’s Home Appliances for fifteen years. In 1967 he became employed at Hub City Foods working there until his retirement in 1993 when it was known as Fleming Foods. After retirement Don worked part time at Figi’s in Marshfield.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, American Legion Post 54 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Badger Aerie 624 in Marshfield.

Don enjoyed working in the woods, metal working, fishing trips, sauerkraut feeds, mowing the lawn, restoring John Deere tractors, doing puzzles, and watching the Green Bay Packers. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughter, Geri Weinfurtner of Mosinee, Robert (Teresa) Tremelling of Mosinee, Paul (Joan) Tremelling of Marshfield, and Jon (Linda) Tremelling of Mosinee, grandchildren, Tara Tremelling (Andy Swenson), Tasha Weinfurtner, Tia Tremelling, Michelle (Andy) Lerch, Mike (Jena) Swanson, and Becky Swanson, and great grandchildren, Madelyn and Olivia Slaughter, Dax and Mia Swanson, Veda Kremer, and Roman Tremelling-Swenson.

He is further survived by his brother, Jim (Nancy) Tremelling and sister in law, Arlene Kaufman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, son in law, Tom Weinfurtner, grandson, Travis Weinfurtner, sister, Arlene Sternweis, and brothers in law, Al Sternweis and Herman Kaufman.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be designated at a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Wells Nature View on 21st Street and the St. Croix hospice nurses for the excellent care.
