Donald R. Peters, 79, from Pittsville passed away on March 7, 2026 at Marshfield Medical Center with his family by his side.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 13th at 11am at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville with Father Leo Raphael officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours before service. Burial will be held at Pittsville Cemetery following the service. Honorary pallbearers will be Grandchildren Luke Sweere, Skylar Rashid, and Godchildren Scott Strigel, Mark Kolb, Russ Peters, and Nicole Kremer.

Donald was born on September 5, 1946, in Cresco, Iowa to Fridolin and Veronica (Korger) Peters. He and his family moved to Pittsville in 1950. He graduated from Pittsville High School 1964 and enrolled in Wisconsin Rapids Tech School studying welding. After graduation he moved to Milwaukee to begin work at Harnsischfiger Corp. Donald returned to Pittsville to begin his 38 year career as a heavy equipment operator with the Wood County Highway Department. It was at this time that he met Diane Strigel and they were married on November 14, 1970. Diane passed away on October 16, 2001. Donald went on to marry Kathleen (Glaman) Jones on May 21, 2005. She survives. After retirement he helped farmers with planting and harvesting. He worked for the Town of Wood for 26 years mowing ditches for the township during the summer. He and his brother, Bob, also worked on various cranberry marshes every fall for 2 weeks for 25 years. He loved gardening, the outdoors, and was an avid hunter.

Donald was a member of St. Joachim Catholic Church in Pittsville.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Kathy, children Renee (Dennis) Sweere, Appleton and James (Chris) Peters, Pittsville. Stepchildren Scott Jones, Milwaukee and Stacey (Zahir) Rashid, Madison, Grandchildren, Allison (Reece) Piotter and Luke (Maci McElwee) Sweere, step grandchildren, Skylar, Olivia, and Sophia Rashid, Tahzeeb Rashid and Naureen Rashid, Nicole (Tom) Barg and their children Elliot, Arlo and Noah, Scott (Chase) Worlund and their son, Max, and Skye (Reese) Bakken and their children, Grant and Garrett. He is further survived by his twin brother, Robert (Kate), and Glen (Terri), sisters Diane (Timothy) Martin, Linda (Wayne) Miller, and Karen (Dennis) Rossow as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and Diane (Strigel) Peters.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a hard worker that always had to be busy. He was willing to help anyone with anything they needed. He will be deeply missed.
