Delbert E. Ballerstein, 84 of Marshfield died on Friday morning, September 14, 2012 at the Colonial Center in Colby. Memorial services will be 11am Friday, September 21, 2012 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church (High Steeple on Huckleberry Road) town of Wien, Marathon County with Rev. Jeffrey A. Lambrecht officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30am until time of service at the church on Friday morning. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Delbert was born on September 11, 1928 in the town of Frankfort, Marathon County to Herman and Laura (Hoefs) Ballerstein. He was united in marriage to Maxine R. Krampien on September 22, 1951 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church. She died on December 25, 2008. Delbert was a cheese maker in his younger years then farmed in the town of Frankfort until 1978. He then went to work for Marathon Cheese, retiring in 1991. Delbert enjoyed hunting, farming and making wood. He is survived by his ten children, Delaine (Philip) Carlson of Marshfield, Sharon Kaiser of Marshfield, Del (Susan) Ballerstein of Edgar, Debra (Gordy) Schmitt of Abbotsford, Dale (Jean) Ballerstein of Westfield, NY, Sandy (Randy) Reynolds of Milan, Lori (Alan) Schmitt of Colby, Lynn Ballerstein of Marshfield, James Ballerstein of Marshfield and Mary (Shelley) Ballerstein of Appleton; 25 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He is further survived by three sisters Audrey (Delmar) Telschow of Edgar, Erna Evans of Weston and Arla (Roger) Leutchswager of Rib Mountain; two sisters-in-law, Caroline Ballerstein of Mapleton, ME and Alice Ballerstein of Colby.
