David C. Serchen, 52 of Marshfield died on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield with his family and friends at his side. Dave fought with dignity and lost a courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services will be 3pm Saturday, September 27th at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield with Rev. Mark A. Krueger officiating.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 1pm on Saturday until time of service at Rembs Funeral Home.
David was born on February 23, 1962 in Marshfield to Roger and Hilma (Anderson) Serchen. He was a 1980 graduate of Marshfield Senior High School and attended UW Stout in Menomonie. He spent his childhood years and vacations at his grandparents farm in Mason, WI.
He was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Smith on August 1, 1992 in Negril Jamaica. David worked as a bartender at the Eagles Club, was employed at Total Electric and then became a senior systems engineer at the Marshfield Clinic.
Dave loved his German food and beer, enjoyed renaissance festivals, hiking, backpacking, horses, wine making, dungeons and dragons game, and was an amateur radio operator. He also liked spending time on the 4th of July in the Three Lakes area. He was a member of the Friends of Faire, a renaissance organization.
He was a kind, generous and loving husband, father, grandfather "Papa Dave", brother and son. He had a "Heart of Gold". He especially enjoyed spoiling his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, children Jason (Jody) Jennerman of Pickett, WI, Cliff ( friend Peggy) Jennerman of Marshfield and Darrell (Kim) Chaltry of Marshfield; four grandchildren, Austin and Abby Jennerman; Lily and Riley Chaltry. He is further survived by his parents, Roger and Hilma Serchen of Marshfield, brother Jeff (Ann) Serchen of Chili and their children, Beau (Jena) Serchen and their son Bryant, Brant (fiancée Shannon) Serchen, Craig and Emily Serchen.
