Obituary

David A. (Davey) Schug Sr., 72, Auburndale, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at House of the Dove in Marshfield, after a long battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 23, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Rev. Keith Kitzhaber officiating. Burial will take place in Union Cemetery, Milladore, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 of Stratford. The visitation will be from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday at Rembs Funeral Home and from 9:30 am until service time on Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. David was born on June 29, 1946 in Athens, Wisconsin, to John Paul and Marie (Risch) Schug. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War from January 7, 1966 until his honorable discharge on December 30, 1967. He participated in and enjoyed the Wisconsin Honor Flight in 2017. In his early years he was employed at Crestline Windows and then Wausau Homes. He then began farming in Athens, Neillsville and later in Auburndale. David married Margaret Zuber and later divorced. He then married the late Lois Guptill. He later married Sally Marie Carcy on May 18, 2012. Dave enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing metal work and playing cards and had a great love for all animals. He is survived by his wife, Sally and his children, Debra Norks of Neillsville, Lora (Steve) Robinson of Rathdrum, ID, John (Charity) Schug of Spencer, Eleanor (Chris) Stockheimer of Auburndale and David (Becky) Schug Jr. of Marshfield. He is also survived by his grandchildren Megan, Anthony, Rachael, Ashleigh, Brandon, Terrall, Colton, Julia, Joshua, Cassondra, Ayden, Eli. He is further survived by brothers, Raymond (Betty) Schug of Washington, Charles Schug of Idaho, Joe (Carol) Schug of Washington, Albie (Betty) Schug of Illinois, and Norbert (Evelyn) Schug of Plover, and sisters, Margie (Gerry) Heil of Edgar, Gertie (Walter) Guralski of Athens, and Judy (Jim) Halik of Black Rivers Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Earl and his sisters, Sister Anna, Order of Franciscans in Springfield, IL, and Angie Robinson and his brother, Anthony Schug. David was a loving father to his children and he devoted extra care for his son Earl for 31 years. The family would also like to send a special thank you to the Marshfield Medical Center, Ministry Home Health Care and House of the Dove for the extended care to Davey.
