Darlene Audrey Borek, 75, City Point, passed away on Friday January 3, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield with her family by her side. Funeral services will take place at 10:30 AM on Tuesday January 7th at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville with Father Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Martyr Cemetery in City Point at a later date. Family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10am until service time and again following the services until noon. There will be a luncheon at the Community Center in City Point. Darlene was born February 17th, 1938, in Chicago, IL, the only child of Christopher and Verna (Kania) Dickman. She was a 1956 graduate of the Pittsville High School. Darlene was employed as a telephone operator in Marshfield. She was united in marriage to Julius Borek on July 2nd 1960 in Marshfield. Jul and Darlene celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2010. They lived in Hartland, before moving back to City Point. Darlene and Julius bought a cranberry marsh in Warrens and also developed the City Point farm into a cranberry marsh. Darlene devoted most of her life to being a loving homemaker and being with her family. She loved flowers, animals, cooking, sewing, and dancing, especially to Polka music. She was a lifetime member of the Martyr's Chapel Altar Society and City Point East Fork Homemakers. She also served as the treasurer of the City Point WFLA Lodge 408, taking over after her mother. Darlene is survived by her husband Julius and their children Christopher (Sharon) Borek of Warrens, Jenny Borek (fiancé Jon Brockman) of City Point, and Angela (Dan) Ostrowski of City Point. She is also survived by grandchildren, Eric Harder, Tiffany Greiner, George Greiner, Robert Ostrowski, Cassandra Ostrowski, Kyle Brockman, Courtney Brockman, and great-grandchild Xavier Harder.
