4:00 - 7:00 pm (Central time)
Daniel D. Schwarz, 62, of Hartland, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at his home in Hartland, WI.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Rembs Funeral Home in Marshfield. Burial will take place at Perkinstown Community Cemetery at a later date.
Dan was born on January 15, 1964, in Medford to Duane and Shirley (Orava) Schwarz. He graduated from Gilman High School in Gilman, Wisconsin, and earned a bachelor’s degree in art and business from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls.
Dan worked for Jacobs in Chicago, where he was involved in the Superfund Environmental Cleanup. He later spent two decades as a product manager at Criticare Medical Device Company in Waukesha, Wisconsin.
Dan had a deep appreciation for the natural world. He loved hiking through the woods, exploring the outdoors, and traveling to historical sites around the world. He also shared a special passion for geology with his father, Duane “Jim,” and together they found joy in learning about rocks and the stories they held within them. It is comforting to imagine that, in Heaven, Dan and his father are reunited, exploring together once again, with plenty of rocks to discover and a whole new world to study.
Dan also enjoyed hosting get-togethers with friends and family, bringing people together over good food, fun activities, and time spent in one another’s company. His love of history and curiosity about the world took him on extensive travels, where he had the opportunity to experience different places and explore the stories they held.
Dan is survived by his mother, Shirley; his sister, Karen L. Anderson of Marshfield; his niece, Emily L. Anderson (friend Oliver Whitlowe) of Whitechurch, England; his nephew, Jacob A. Nernberger (Kendall) of Spencer, Wisconsin; and their children, Liam, Finley, and Felix. He is further survived by his aunt, Mary Orava, and many other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Duane “Jim” Schwarz.
Dan will be remembered for his curiosity about the world, his love of nature and geology, and the special bond he shared with his father. May his next journey bring new discoveries, treasured reunions, and more than a few interesting rocks along the way.
