Daniel R. Kane, 71, Pittsville, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2026.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at St. Joachim Catholic Church, Pittsville with Rev. Leo Raphael officiating. A livestream will be available on Dan’s obituary page at the time of service. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will take place from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Friday, October 9 at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and from 10:00 am until the time of service on Saturday at the church.

Dan was born on September 21, 1955 in Marshfield to John Sr. and Noris (Miller) Kane.

Dan graduated in 1973 from Pittsville High School where he continued his extended love for farming and agriculture in the FFA.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Luther on November 8, 1975 at St. Joachim’s Catholic Church in Pittsville, later divorcing. Together, they raised three children, Amy, Samantha, and Thomas, whom he was a devoted father and provider to.

He grew up on the family farm known as Kanes River Ranch as a 3rd generation farmer. After selling the farm in 1994, Dan started working for his friend who owned Schueller Construction. He later transitioned into forming his own business by purchasing his sawmill. He also dedicated many fall seasons to Cutler Cranberry. During this time, he began working with Redmond Construction while growing his business. He devoted 32 years to Kane’s Custom Sawing and spent many years traveling around central Wisconsin with his Wood-Mizer sawmill.

Dan was a lifelong member of the St. Joachim Parish. He was a proud founding member of the Knights of Columbus and thoroughly enjoyed his 30 years of service with them. He enjoyed watching the Packers and participating in pool and softball leagues in his youth. His favorite hobby was fishing, especially his annual Canada fishing trip. Dan had a passion for hunting, especially in later years as he got to give his grandchildren pointers from his many years of experience. He was a devoted grandfather. He made it his mission to never miss a game, performance, or life event. His grandchildren meant the world to him, and he never missed an opportunity to brag about them.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Troy) Holford, and son, Thomas (Jessica) Kane, both of Pittsville; grandchildren, Rebecca (Ben Buettner) Holford of Pittsville, Elizabeth (Matt Ertl) Holford of Auburndale, Nathan (Audreane Doorn) Holford of Wisconsin Rapids, Benjamin, and Anastasia Kane of Pittsville.

He is further survived by his sisters, Joan (Gary) Korger of Nekoosa and Deb Ostrowski of Wisconsin Rapids, sister-in-law, Diana Kane of Cedarburg, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Sr. and Noris Kane, daughter, Samantha Kane, brothers, John “Jack” Kane Jr., Jeffrey Kane, brother-in-law Dan Ostrowski and stepmother, Ruth Kane.
