Daniel L. Kurtzweil, 70, of rural Stratford, died unexpectedly Monday, December 22nd at the Marshfield Medical Center.
The family invites relatives and friends for a memorial gathering at the Sauter/Rembs Funeral Home in Stratford on Friday, January 9th from 4 to 7pm.
Daniel was born March 9, 1955 in Wausau to Earl and Florence (Lang) Kurtzweil. He attended schools in Stratford, graduating there in 1973. Dan was united in marriage to the former Miss Roxane Schmitt July 19, 1975, they had just celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Daniel was the fix-it man that his wife and family counted on. He took much pride in keeping his hands busy from carpentry to splitting firewood to producing maple syrup. Dan was an avid hunter and loved being the Grandpa that passed the tradition of hunting down to his family. He had worked over 20+ years at Stratford Homes as a finish carpenter. Dan had held membership in the Whitetails and Halder Sportsman's Club. He also enjoyed horseback riding and watching the Packers & Brewers.
Daniel is survived by his wife Roxane, his son Chad (Kelly) Kurtzweil of Vesper, and his daughter Amy Kurtzweil of Marshfield. He is further survived by grandchildren: Caleb (Nadia) O'Reilly, Casey O'Reilly, Emma Kurtzweil, and Chloey Kurtzweil. Dan is also survived by siblings: Karen (Bill) Downey, John (Betsy) Kurtzweil, Roger (Sandy) Kurtzweil, and Kevin (Cheryl) Kurtzweil; and his beloved dog Zoey; his mother-in-law Rosemary Schmitt, and siblings-in-law Darrell (ViAnn) Schmitt and Diane (Gary) Kaiser, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenny Kurtzweil, his sister Kathy Sharpe, and his father-in-law Walter Schmitt.
