Obituary

Concetta Isabella Maki, 82, entered eternal life on March 18, 2016. Connie was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on November 15, 1933. She was the only child of Thomas and Teresa (Bertucci) Graham. Connie was a second-generation American. Her paternal grandparents emigrated from England and her maternal grandparents from Italy. She grew up surrounded by the love and embrace of an extended family. Well into her later years. Connie reminisced about her grandparents, aunts, and uncles who taught her so many life lessons of love and devotion. Connie worked her way through high school and then attended Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, working two jobs to support herself. On January 12, 1955 she married Toivo M Maki, also of Ishpeming, Michigan, who had just received an honorable discharge from the Air Force as a first lieutenant. Toivo and Connie had two daughters-Claudia (Michael) Gadow of Marshfield and Hope (Marvin) Kuehner also of Marshfield, and one granddaughter Stephanie (Kevin) Evers of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family lived in different iron ore mining areas in Minnesota, Michigan, Ontario, and Quebec, Canada. Connie was a loving mother who was devoted to her family. She was a talented cook, baker, and tended a large garden in her younger years, putting up produce and sharing the bountiful harvests with neighbors and friends. She enjoyed having people over for get-togethers, Bible studies, and prayer groups. Connie's foundation in faith began as a youngster but was transformed in 1973 while attending a Father Ralph DiOrio healing crusade. She sowed the seeds of the Gospel in many hearts, first in her family and then to loved ones. She knew how to pray, was devoted to the Bible and loved God with all her heart. She prayed fervently for her beloved country. Connie was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son-in-law Marvin E Kuehner. Connie's family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center for the compassionate and expert care of their mother. Also a very warm thank you to the devoted hospice nurses and aides as well as Dr Yanke's faithful care during the last months of Connie's life. A private funeral mass for her family is being planned.
