Obituary

Colette M. (Patton ) Marx, 78 of Plover died on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the home of her daughter, Theresa and her husband John. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Friday, November 14, 2014 at St. John's Catholic Church in Marshfield with Fr. Nathaniel Kuhn officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Following the burial, a lunch will be held in the Columbia Room at St. John's School. Family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30am Friday until time of services at St. John's Catholic Church. Colette was born on December 3, 1935 in Marshfield to Katherine Marx. She was raised by her grandparents, John and Theresa (Leinwander) Marx. She attended St. John's Parochial School and Columbus High School. Besides raising eight children, she was a cook and member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Stevens Point. Her most life fulfilling job was being head cook at Camp American Legion at Lake Tomahawk, WI for over 20 years. She loved the veterans and co-workers who became very dear to her over the years. They loved her and enjoyed her cooking, especially her home made cream puffs. Colette's hobbies included being a den mother for the cub scouts and a member of the round table. Spending time with family and friends was always special to her. Colette is survived by her children, Tim (Maggie) Patton of Fond du Lac, Jeff (Sherry ) Patton of Stevens Point, Theresa (John) Carponter of Plover, Tony (Carleen) Patton of Stevens Point, Chris Patton of Plover, Patricia (Jeff) Van Ark of New London and Mike Patton of Stevens Point; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two great grandchildren on the way. She is further survived by her uncle John Marx of Marshfield and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her mother, Katherine Marx, son Greg Patton, husband Ken Patton and a great grandson. Rembs Funeral Home of Marshfield is assisting the family.
