Obituary

Clarence I. Peplinski, 83, Milladore, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at St. Kilian's Catholic Church, Blenker, with Rev. Eric Berns officiating. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Martens / Rembs Funeral Home, Junction City, and on Thursday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Kilian's Church. Clarence was born on August 23, 1932 in the Town of Amherst to Clarence and Rose (Lepak) Peplinski and was a 1950 graduate of Amherst High School. In his younger years, Clarence was employed as a machine operator in Wisconsin Rapids for Consolidated, Paperboard Division. While working there he met the love of his life, Lois J. Bubolz. They were united in marriage on June 26, 1965 in Iowa. Together they raised 6 sons on their dairy farm, Pep Acres, in the Town of Sherry. He also worked for Jacques Seeds as a seed salesman. Throughout his life, Clarence made many contributions to agriculture. After a devastating barn fire in 1963, he rebuilt his barn to house his dairy herd in confinement and on slats. At that time slats had not been approved in Wisconsin for grade A dairy operations. Clarence believed they would soon gain recognition, which they did. His barn also had a four stall split-level milking parlor and a unique system for liquid manure disposal, the first of its kind in the area. Pep Acres was also one of the first to practice minimum tillage and drainage tile techniques for soil conservation. Clarence was a committee member of the Wood County Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service and was a member of both the Select Sire Breeder's Association and the Equity Livestock Association. Pep Acres underwent another tragic barn fire in 2011, after which he switched from dairy to raising steers. Along with farming, a few of his many interests were Canadian fishing trips, hunting in Colorado, polka dancing, wine making, gardening and bird watching. Camping with family was also a favorite, where he became one of the original creators of the adult beverage "silo juice." One of Clarence's greatest sources of pride was spending time with his grandchildren. Clarence loved attending their sporting and school events, recitals and taking them for rides on his Ranger UTV while checking on his fields and crops. Another of his loves was watching his family and friends enjoy his gorgeous pond, which he built out of a part of his farm field. He is survived by sons, Paul (MaryJo) Peplinski, Dale (Kristin) Peplinski, Glen Peplinski, Doug (Renee) Peplinski, and Brian (Tracey) Peplinski all of Milladore and Christopher (Lisa) Peplinski of Wisconsin Rapids. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Ruby (Clifford) Hunt of Oshkosh and Christy (Gary) Orear of Nicholasville, KY, and one brother, Mike (Mary) Peplinski of Amhest Junction. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife, Lois, on May 13, 2011, a sister-in-law, Luann Bubolz and brothers-in-law, Clifford Hunt and William Binger. The family will designate a memorial in Clarence's name at a later date. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
