Clarence J. McMillan, 95, Died on Monday, October 31, 2016 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.
Military services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, November 4, 2016, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield.
Clarence was born on October 25, 1921 in Denver, Colorado. He joined the National Guard while in High School and immediately joined the Army upon graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1940. During World War II he commanded a unit of the 557th Field Artillery and was awarded a Bronze Star for gallentry in action against the enemy following the D-Day landing. He was always proud that he led his unit through extensive combat across Europe, and all his men came home safely. Following the war, he went to work for the United States Postal Service and retired after 35 years of distinguished service. He then devoted himself to family and community. He established a scholarship at New Mexico State University, where many family members had graduated.
Clarence is survived by his daughter, Sue (Paul) Gibbs and stepson, Loren (Roxann) Rolak as well as 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Bonnie Jean and his second wife, Lois Rigney Rolak as well as sons, CJ and Gene.
