Obituary

Clare W. Wiesman, 90, Stratford, died on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at his home in the Town of Cleveland, Marathon County, under the care of his family and Aspirus Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Stratford. Rev. Eric Berns will officiate and music will be provided by St. Josephs Resurrection Choir. Burial will take place in St. Josephs Cemetery in Stratford and grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00 am until service time, both at St. Josephs Catholic Church, Stratford. St. Josephs Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be held on Monday at 4:30 pm, followed by St. Josephs parish vigil service at 8:00 pm, both at St. Josephs Church. Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford is assisting the family. Clare was born on April 27, 1921 in the Town of Cleveland, the son of Fred and Theresa (Schoenfuss) Wiesman. He married Fern E. Schnelle on August 6, 1942 at St. Andrews Catholic Church, Rozellville. She died on July 10, 2007. As a young man he began working on a farm locally. During the depression he went to South Dakota where he working on farms there. He then worked at a powder plant in Baraboo. He then returned to the Town of Cleveland and worked as a milk hauler and in the early 1940s he purchased a farm there and farmed until 1970. Beginning in the early 1950s, while farming, he worked in road construction during the summers until 1981 when he retired. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed playing baseball and was the manager for the Cleveland Stars Baseball Team. He is survived by his children, Donna (Gordy) Steinke of Wausau, Patricia Fern (Morris) Krall of Stratford, Ronald Clare (Sue) Wiesman of Bryant, South Dakota, Sandra Marie (Keith) Weiler of Marshfield, Frederick (Eileen) Wiesman of Stratford, Penny Leona (Kyle) Stevenson of DePere, Mary Rose Nichols of Rochester, MN, and Sally Josephine (Bernard) Wenzel of Edgar. He is also survived by thirty one grandchildren and thirty one great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Victor (Rita) Wiesman of Marshfield, Eleanor (Laverne) Berg of Menomonie Falls, James (Irene) Wiesman of Wausau, and Joseph (Elaine) Wiesman of Wausau. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Fern, a son,John in infancy, son-in-law Timothy Nichols and brothers and sisters, Paul, Mark, Raymond Wiesman, Mary Reilly, Josephine Wunch, Rose Breidogel, and Wilbert Wiesman. Memorials may be designated to St. Josephs Parish Endowment Trust.
