Obituary

Cheryl Lea (Sherry) Engelman, 63, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at the House of the Dove surrounded with the love of her family after a brave battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville, with Rev. Gary Markworth officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 4:00-7:00 pm at Buchanan/Rembs Funeral Home in Pittsville and Thursday, Nov. 13 from 10:00 am to service time at the church. Sherry was born August 8, 1951 to Robert (Bud) and Irene Engelman in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. She attended Pittsville Public schools, graduating in 1969. After high school she attended UW Stevens Point, earning a BS degree in Biology and Math and later adding teaching certification. She worked as a Health Inspector for the City of St. Louis Park, MN for 30 years and then served the City of Edina, MN as Community Health Administrator for 8 years before retiring in October, 2013. Every season of the year Sherry could be found enjoying the outdoors. She especially loved the time in Duluth with her marina friends and boating on Lake Superior. Quality time was also spent with her beloved dog Murphy, cross country skiing and hiking together. Annual vacations were spent enjoying the fall colors in Door County and attending the EAA Air Show with friends and family. As a loyal Packer fan in the heart of Viking country, her passion for the Pack showed up every time they played, and she was not shy about voicing her support for the Green and Gold. Sherry cherished her family and wide circle of dear friends and loved sharing her time with each of them. Moments spent with nieces, nephews and their children gave her great joy. Sherry was a lifetime member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Pittsville. She loved the Pittsville community, often returning for visits and one day had planned to retire there. The Pittsville 4th of July Celebrations were a highlight, and she participated in the Heart and Sole walks yearly. She is survived by her loving mother, Irene, Pittsville, brother, Robert Engelman, Ringle, sisters, Karen (Rodney) Friedrichsen, Marshfield and Sue (Paul) Behselich, Pittsville, nieces and nephews, Jennifer (Dylan), Dennis, Tami, Kelly, Jason (Nicole), Jeremiah (Anna), Angie, Jeff, Brian, Kate, Scott, and 10 great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father Robert (Bud) Engelman in 2013, and grandparents Arthur and Amanda Engelman and Kurt and Florence Zellmer. Sherry will be deeply missed by her family, friends and the many others whose lives she touched. Codolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
