Charles M. "Charlie" Kosik, 82, Pittsville, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home in the Town of Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville, with Rev. Gary Markworth officiating. Burial will take place in Mound Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #153 of Pittsville. The visitation will be held on Sunday beginning at 4:00 pm at Buchanan / Rembs Funeral Home, Pittsville and on Monday from 10:00 am until service time at St. John's Lutheran Church, Pittsville. The Free and Accepted Masons will conduct a memorial service 4:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
Charlie was born on May 15, 1932 in Milwaukee to Stephen and Agnes (Sivak) Kosik and attended Milwaukee schools. He then served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Following his honorable discharge he was employed by the City of Milwaukee first as an arborist and then as a police officer.
Charlie married Donna Mae Stillman on April 18, 1953 in Milwaukee. Fifty years ago in 1964 Charlie purchased a farm on the Polish Road in Pittsville. He resided there until the time of his death.
Charlie was an avid Packer, Badger and Brewer fan. He very much enjoyed bird watching, fishing, especially in northern Wisconsin near Springstead. Family was very important to him with the farm as a gathering place. Charlie liked talking with people. He could strike up a conversation with anyone and make a connection with them.
He was a 50 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons, the Zor Shriners, and a 42 year member of the Palmer-Ritchie-Thomas American Legion Post #153.
He is survived by his children, daughters, Terrie (Doug) Brown, Kim Kosik, and Kristi (Dan) Gruebele, all of Wisconsin Rapids, and a son, Steve Kosik of Pittsville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Andrea (Carlos) Galvan, Alyssa Brown, Ashley Brown, Zachary Vruwink, Brittney Vruwink, Crawford Gruebele and Davis Gruebele and 3 great grandchildren, Maya, Adriana and Andy. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin Brandt, Ken & Marlene Hammond, Norman & Linda Kohls, Dennis & Beverly Palmer, Kay Stillman, Harold & Charlene Stillman & Cheryl Knaak.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna, his sister, Anna "Bonnie" Lynch, his in-laws, Joyce Brandt, Patsy & Robert Haumschild, Lawrence Stillman, Sandra & Robert Rasmussen, Karen Stillman, Robert Stillman and William Knaak.
