Obituary

Charles F. Kolbeck, age 90, Marshfield, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Wells Nature View Assisted Living.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield, where visitation will be from 9:00 am until service time. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Charles was born on May 11, 1936, in Marshfield to Anton and Elsie (Ottelien) Kolbeck. He attended St. Andrew’s School in Rozellville, Purdy Junior High School, Marshfield, and Marshfield Senior High School. He entered the United States Army in May of 1955, as a specialist 3, serving at Fort Hood, Texas in the 6th Armored Division. He was honorably discharged in 1957.

After his discharge from the Army Chuck drove granite truck for his father for two years. He then drove semi-truck delivering farm machinery for H & S Manufacturing for 27 years. He retired in 1994 and drove part time for V & H Automotive delivering trucks throughout the United States, He also drove part time for AgSource in Stratford and hauled granite for Roehl Transport, Marshfield.

He married Phyllis Bohman on October 9, 1957, and they divorced. He later married Carmela J. Zais on November 4, 1972, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Hewitt.

Chuck enjoyed boxing, football, especially the Green Bay Packers, and NASCAR racing, especially watching his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon who he met in person several times. He was proud of the fact that he drove a regular NASCAR car at the Chicagoland Speedway.

He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, its Holy Name Society, and The Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Carmela, a daughter, Sheila (Kenneth) Leitheuser, West Palm Beach, FL, a son, Ryan (Tera) Kolbeck, Cambridge, MN, grandchildren, Kenneth II (Gina) Leitheuser, West Palm Beach, FL, Dustin (Jessica) Leitheuser, West Palm Beach, FL, and Aiden and Hannah Kolbeck, Cambridge, MN, and twin great grandchildren, Clayton and Kyler Leitheuser, West Palm Beach, FL. He is further survived by brothers, Lyle (Janet) Kolbeck, Marshfield, and Verlin (Gloria) Kolbeck, Stratford, and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, LaVern and Jerome Kolbeck and sisters, Ardelle Powell and Jeraine Best.

The family would like to thank Wells Nature View, Heartland Hospice and Inclusa staffs for their care, concern, and support for Chuck and family.
