Charlie was born at home on June 27, 1944, to Donald and Lillian (Grimm) Fox. He spent his early years working on the farm. Following graduation from Pittsville High School in 1962, he attended tech school to learn masonry. On January 2, 1965, he married Patricia Schara at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids.

After their marriage, he and Patricia moved to Racine, and he continued to work as a mason. He and Patricia moved back to Central Wisconsin, eventually buying a hobby farm where they raised their five children. He worked various jobs throughout his life, including owning Fox Construction and American Dream Realty. He retired from USPS in 2021 at the age of 77.

Charlie had many pastimes throughout his life. He enjoyed trap shooting and racing snowmobiles and 4-wheelers. When he wasn’t racing, he was watching his family race. He played fast and slow pitch softball. His family has many fond memories of cheering him on as he played in leagues and tournaments. An avid hunter, he encouraged all of his children to hunt. He also enjoyed fishing at his back pond with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His happiest days were when he was spending time with his family and friends.

Charlie was very involved with Ducks Unlimited, starting several chapters in our area. He was recently recognized by DU for his many years of service. He served on the Board for the Farm Bureau. Central WI State Fair was his favorite time of year as he looked forward to scooping ice cream at the Farm Bureau stand each year. He belonged to the Wisconsin Cranberry Association, owning his own marsh for nearly 30 years.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Patricia; his children, Charles (Diane) Fox II of Vesper, Lisa (Terry) Sobczak of Stevens Point, Tracy (Don) Neve of Wisconsin Rapids, Wendy (Paul) Sturgis of Vesper, and Mike (Tina) Fox of Vesper. His grandchildren; Austin, Caitlyn, Erica, and Ashley Fox; Rachel (Justin Jens) Neve and Cedric Neve, Christine (Eathen) Aden, Adam (Jenna) Sturgis, Miranda (Evan) Foust, Rebecca (fiancé Ethen Meissner) Sturgis; Eli, Codi, and Franki Fox. Great-grandchildren, Henry, Aly, and Charley Aden; Elliot Sturgis.

He is further survived by his siblings and in-laws, Donald “Butch” (Dawn) Fox, Diane (Bob) Zuebella, Fran Fox, Juliana (Russ) Roy, and Peggy Grutzik.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Jeannette Engelbright, Dale Fox, and Dolores Robus; and one grandson, Rahli Fox. His in-laws, Donald Engelbright and Judy Fox; Russell and Rose (Pelot) Schara, Russell (Kathy) Schara, Rose Ann (Denis) Crowns, and Barbara (David) Huisheere.
