Obituary

Charles W. Drexler, Sr., 65, Wisconsin Rapids, died on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 13, 2014 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Rozellville with Rev. John Robert Alphonse officiating. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6352 at the church following the service. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield and on Monday from 9:30 am until service time at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Charles was born on July 29, 1948 in Wausau, the son of Richard and Adeline (Altmann) Drexler and attended Stratford schools. He served in the Wisconsin National Guards. He married Marie E. Beining on May 4, 1968 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church. Charlie had been a truck driver for H & S Mfg., worked in the tire dept. at CW Transport and then was employed at DeBoer Trucking. He was a heavy equipment operator for the Operating Engineers Local 139 until his retirement in 2009. He was an avid outdoorsman and his grandchildren were most important in his life. He is survived by his wife, Marie, their 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Their children are Charlie (Tama) Drexler of Wisconsin Rapids and their children, DeeAnn and Cole; Dan Drexler of Wisconsin Rapids and his children, Kaleb and Carson; and Lauri (Scott) Pappenfus of Pierz, MN. He is also survived by his parents, Richard and Adeline Drexler of Stratford and his brothers and sisters, John (Cindy) Drexler, Diane (Bob) Helms, all of Marshfield, Dennis Drexler, Paul "Buck" (Wendy) Drexler, Steve "Beaver" (Rochelle) Drexler, Sharon (Carl) Moeller, a sister-in-law, Judy Drexler, all of Stratford, Kris (Tad) Wetterau of Wisconsin Rapids.
