Obituary

Caroline B. Neuman, 93, Marshfield, passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Wells Nature View with her family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Marshfield with a rosary service at 8:30 am and visitation to follow starting at 9:00 am until the time of service. Father Dan Thelen will officiate. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Caroline was born on January 28, 1932 in Brookfield, WI to Anton and Caroline (Dersch) Frank. When she was a young girl, Caroline moved with her family to farm in the Marshfield area. As a young woman, she worked in Milwaukee in various clerical positions and attended vocational school to sharpen her skills.

She was united in marriage to James H. Spencer on April 12, 1955 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He passed away on January 30, 1978. She later married Norbert Neuman on April 25, 1981 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He passed away on January 24, 2006.

During her marriage, Caroline was involved in many community and school activities. She was a longtime member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters and served as president.

Caroline enjoyed many talents and hobbies, such as reading, photography, painting, sewing, and music including singing with the community Palm Sunday choir. Her passion for nature inspired her to capture its beauty in painting and photography, earning her local and state awards. That inspiration motivated her to sign her photos with "A Photographer for the Lord!".

She is survived by her children, Philip (Susan) Spencer of Spencer, Catherine Wiley of Marshfield, Dennis (Susan) Spencer of Marshfield, Janice (John) Altmann of Marshfield, Michael (Sherri) Spencer of Marshfield and stepchildren, Terry (Diane) Neuman of Eagle River, Debbie (David) Horn of Rochester, MN, Darla (John) Koshnick of Stevens Point, and Carla (Mark) Zimmermann of Marshfield. She is further survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a sister, Virginia Torgerson of Iola.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brothers George Frank, Kenneth Frank, Howard Frank and John Frank, sisters Antoinette Koch, Mary Marx, Jane Grey, Rosie Frank, and Elizabeth (Betty) Frank, grandson, Staff Sgt. Joseph Altmann, son-in-law, Hugh Wiley.

Caroline will be remembered for her kindness and compassion, her quiet strength and her beautiful smile. Caroline's deep faith, love of God and trust in Jesus Christ sustained her throughout her life, and she passed that on to her family and to those she knew.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated in Caroline's name to Marshfield American Legion, St. John the Baptist Catholic Church or the charity of your choice.
