Carl R. Horn, 95, Pittsville, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Bethel Center in Arpin.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Carl was born on April 16, 1921 in the Town of Wood to Charles and Louise (Zellmer) Horn and attended school at Pleasant Corners School in the Town of Wood.
As a young man he was employed with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He then farmed in the Town of Hansen his entire life. He also had been a park ranger for Dexterville Wood Park and drove school bus for several years.
He married Evelyn J. Christensen on August 19, 1944. They were married for 71 years.
Carl enjoyed hunting and building his sons deer stands. He continued to make the families firewood until his sons took his chainsaw away! No one would argue that he was one of the best story tellers.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn and their children, Carl (Virginia) Horn,l Jr. of Philadelphia, Mark Horn and Kevin Horn, both of Vesper. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, Cassandra and Nick Horn. He is further survived by a brother Elmer (Mary) Horn of Milwaukee and a sister, Dorothy Luken of Pittsville. Sister-in-laws Betty Tubbs and Carol Michalik, Ann Christensen.
He was predeceased by his parents, sisters, Norma Schmoldt, Lucille Bubolz, and Florence Rumlow and brothers, Kurt, Edward, Lawrence, and Leonard Horn.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Ministry Home Hospice and Bethel Center for their care, compassion and understanding.
The family will designate a memorial in Carl's name at a later date.
