Obituary

Blanche L. Wix, 85, Marshfield, died peacefully on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at Atrium Post Acute Care, Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery and family members will serve as pallbearers. The visitation will be held on Friday from 4:30 pm until 7:30 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until service time, all at Rembs Funeral Home. Blanche was born on November 30, 1930 in Marshfield, the daughter of Lloyd and Eleanor (Stoegbauer) Spaulding. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and was a graduate of Marshfield Senior High School. She was united in marriage to Gordon G. Wix, Sr. on February 23, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wausau. He died on June 11, 1990. Blanche's life revolved around her family. She enjoyed the summer cookouts, weekend Packer parties, long rides anytime and anywhere, special holidays when she would bake her numerous homemade pies, cookies and dinner with all the fixings and birthday parties with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Blanche enjoyed daily walks through the park listening to her favorite music and her fall car rides to look at the beautiful colors. Her door was always open to anyone who would stop in for a visit. A lot of great conversation and memories entered her door. Blanche will always be remembered for her generosity, caring and unselfish heart. Even in her final days, "Please" and "Thank You" were a daily part of her vocabulary. She demonstrated her love for the sick as a C.N.A. on the cancer floor at St. Joseph's Hospital working with cancer patients to help them feel comfortable and safe. This was her life's calling. Blanche is survived by her 7 children, Terri (Tom) Dums, Mary (Paul Rupel) Rock, Lauri (Jerry) Olsen, Gordon (Mary) Wix, Jr., all of Marshfield, Kelly (Scott Kunkel) Bohman of Stratford, Tracy (Gary) Hamlin of Hammond and Frank (William Meister) Wix of Hudson. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, Nicholas (Angela) Dums, Alexander (Angela) Dums, Ben Rock, Briana Rupel, Chris Rupel, Ashley (Nicholas) Marti, Julie (Jeff) Sherman, Gordon Wix III, Joshua Wix, Zachary Wix, Cory (Stacey Motion) Bohman, Jenna Minor, Brandon Hamlin, Zachary (Julie Schultz) Hamlin, Mac (Lindsey) Hamlin, Tanner Wix and Taylor Wix and 18 great grandchildren, Anna, Sam, Maggie, Claire and Matthew Dums, Lucas and Zoe Dums, Amelia, Ruby and Hugo Marti, Jordan, Jett and Jaxon Sherman, Raina and Evan Bohman, Layla Schultz, Koda Hamlin and Cameron Hamlin. She is further survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Betty Martin of Edgar, Elaine Wix of Marshfield and Claudia Spaulding of Milwaukee and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, sisters, Marie Graff, Bernice Hagstrom, Theresa Cattanach and Irene Beelen, and brothers, Richard, Robert, Lloyd and Harry Spaulding. A special thanks to all the staff at Atrium Post Acute Care. Their kind and loving care was noticed and greatly appreciated by all. Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
