Betty J. Thompson, a resident of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on April 18th, 2024, at her residence, surrounded by her beloved family.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 22nd, 2024, at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where visitation will take place from 9:00 am until time of service officiated by Pastor Dave Ficken with a committal service following at Richfield Town Cemetery. Services will be streamed online at www.facebook.com/rembsfuneralhomes.
Betty was born on April 29th, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Gilbert and Laura (Gessert) Drackley. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1962. On July 5th, 1964, she married the love of her life Alfred Thompson Jr.
In her leisure time, Betty found joy in reading mystery novels, experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen, and preserving food through canning.
She is survived by her children: Tom (Annette) Minor, Carey (Curtis) Rucker of Pittsville, Scott Thompson of Marshfield, Kevin (Christa) Thompson of Marshfield, Peggy (Todd) Kroening of Wisconsin Rapids, and Brian (Brianna) Thompson of Marshfield.
Betty also leaves behind a legacy through her grandchildren: Kaitlyn Federwitz, Devin Delfosse, Haley Gerriets, Micaela Stieber, Sadie, Jacob, and Peter Rucker, Noah, Zach, Trinity, and Ethan Thompson, Shawn Kroening, MacKenzie Mueller, Sydney Kroening, Tayllor, Mallory, and Ellee Thompson, along with 12 great-grandchildren. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Bill (Celia) Drackley, her sister, Mary LeMay, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and her brother-in-law Jim Reno of Pittsville.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert and Laura Gessert, her husband, Alfred Jr., her daughter, Annette Minor, her granddaughter, Elizabeth Thompson, her brother, Donald Drackley, her sister, Elaine Morse, brother-in-law Chet LeMay, Ray Morse, and sister-in-law Darlene Reno.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to Heartland Hospice for their attentive care and compassion during Betty's final days. A heartfelt thank you is also extended to Betty's granddaughter, MacKenzie, for her unwavering love and dedication to her grandmother throughout her life.
