Betty C. Oertel, 89, Marshfield, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Marshfield Medical Center. Private family committal services will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Marshfield. Rev. Wayne Oblender will officiate, and Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Betty was born on May 11, 1932, in Marshfield, to George and Loretta (Fredrick) Hudak. She was united in marriage to Clarence R. Oertel on January 27, 1951, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Town of McMillan, Marathon County. He died on December 14, 1999. Betty had been employed at Marshfield Canning Company in Marshfield for a time. While raising her family she and her husband farmed in the Town of McMillan. Betty had a strong Christian faith and was a devoted wife and mother. She always took a great interest in what her family was doing even at the end of her life. She is survived by seven children, Sharon Lloyd (Jerry Marden) of Spencer, Shirley (Richard) Krause of Stratford, Barbara (Don) Kress of Stratford, Clarence R. (Mary) Oertel, Jr. of Marshfield, Karen (Rick) McCauley of Stratford, Kay Oertel of Marshfield, and Tim Oertel of Marshfield. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Becky, Chris, Daniel, Jason, Justin and Tonya and 14 great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother Jim (Sandy) Hudak and a brother-in-law, Jerry Bach, all of Marshfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Walter Hudak and his wife Delores and a sister-in-law Sylvia Bach. A memorial will be designated at a later date.
