Betty Anne Hughes, 79 of Marshfield died peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Golden Living Center Three Oaks in Marshfield.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30am Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church with Fr. Sam Martin officiating. Cindy Penker along with St. John's Funeral Choir will provide the music. Burial will be in Beaver Dam at a later date.
Family will receive relatives and friends from 9:30am Thursday morning until time of the services at the church.
Betty was born on July 14, 1936 in Beaver Dam to Edwin and Violet (Ford) Beyer. She moved to Nekoosa with her family after the death of her father at age 6. She graduated from Nekoosa High School and went to work at the paper mill. Betty married and had two children before moving to Marshfield in 1966.
She worked at the Marshfield Jr. High School as a librarian. After her divorce, Betty was united in marriage to Gerald R. Hughes on July 15, 1975 in Reno, NV and worked at Gaffney Plumbing and later as a cashier at Target. After her retirement from Target, Betty took great pleasure in watching her grandson Aaron race go-carts and stock cars. She enjoyed spending time with her grandkids and dog sitting for her granddaughters dog Lowrider. Betty always made time to take care of her grandkids and will be missed by all that knew her.
Betty is survived by her husband Gerald, two daughters Pam Carlson of Wisconsin Rapids and Priscilla (John) Hamel of Marshfield; 9 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is further survived by a brother Sherwood (Melanie) Beyer of Wisconsin Rapids and a sister Sandra (Kenneth) Chen of San Francisco, CA.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister Judith and a brother Edwin Beyer.
