Bernard E. Niehaus, 80 of Marshfield, died on Monday morning, October 24, 2011 at the House of The Dove under the care of Ministry Home Hospice services. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30am Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Johns Catholic Church with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Music will be provided by St. Johns Funeral Choir. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield at the cemetery. Visitations will be from 9:30 am Friday until time of the service at St. Johns Church. Rembs Funeral Home is assisting the family. Bernard was born on November 15, 1930 in Marshfield to Lawrence and Mayme (Fleisner) Niehaus. He attended St. Johns Parochial School and graduated from Marshfield Senior High School. Bernard helped on the family farm until his induction into the United States Army, serving from October 1, 1951 until his honorable discharge on August 7, 1953. Following his discharge, he returned to the farm until the death of his father. His mother then sold the farm and the moved into Marshfield. He worked in construction for a short time and then became employed as a farm hand on the Eugene Ruffing Farm for many years. Bernard is survived by his brother Gerald (Laura) Niehaus of Stratford and two sisters, Dorothy (Donald) Paul of Stratford and Arlene Weber of Marshfield. He is further survived by two nieces, Terri (Allan) Lieder and Mary (Tom) Zuelke; eight nephews, William (Roxie) Lindekugel, Richard (Kris) Niehaus, Joe (Chris) Niehaus, Gerald (Christine) Weber, Mike Weber, Brian (Barbara) Paul, Scott Paul and Allen (Kathy) Paul. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Esther Lindekugel and three brothers-in-law Robert Lindekugel, Joe Weber and Ivo Schmitt.
